31 Days of Hindsight: Day 11

In April of 2016 I read the book Hinds Feet On High Places by Hannah Hurnard .

It is the most beautiful allegory about a young woman named Much Afraid, and her journey away from her Fearing family and into the High Places of the Shepherd, guided by her two companions Sorrow and Suffering.

“He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, And sets me upon my high places.” Psalm 18:33 NASB

“The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, And makes me walk on my high places. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments. ” Habakkuk 3:19 NASB

This book moved my heart in a 1000 little ways. I saw so much of who I used to be in Much Afraid, which only made me more grateful for God’s grace and mercy.  My scars no longer make me sad.  They are God-arrows to the One who paid a price for me, not because He had to, but because He wanted to. The story itself lit a creative fire in me as well. I stumbled upon a poem I penned because my heart was moved:

“HE Moved Me”

I’m moved from far to near;

I’m moved from lost to dear.

I was blind but now I see.

I couldn’t walk, so You carried me.

You gave me hope, when there was none.

I was orphaned, but You named me Precious One.

My mind was sick, racing and paranoid.

You alone healed, stilled and filled the void.

Creator of the finest treasure,

You love me like crazy, way beyond measure.

I can say that with confidence,

because You are my shield and only Defense,

The Rock on which I stand,

the God who holds my hand.

When I cry, you cry too.

Peace and joy come from You!

I once was bound by the greatest fear

but now I’m free and Hope is here!

As you look in your rear-view mirror this year, what books/people/events etc… have inspired you or encouraged you to move to HIGHER GROUND?

And were you moved enough to actually move?

Were you ever “Much Afraid”?

If so, why?

Did you overcome the fear?

If so, how?

If you did not overcome the fear, would you like to? (See the “Declaration” below)

DECLARATION AGAINST FEAR:

I am a member of the body of Christ and satan has no power over me, for I have overcome evil with good.  I am of God and have overcome satan, for greater is He who is in me than who’s in the world. I will fear no evil for God is with me, His Word and His Spirit, they comfort me.

I am far from oppression, and fear does not come near me. No weapon formed against me will prosper. I will not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor fear the dangers of the day. The Lord is on my side. I will not fear. What can man do to me? My righteousness is of the Lord, and whatever I do will prosper, for I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water.

I am delivered from the evil of this present world, for this is not God’s will for me. No evil will befall me! Neither will any plague come near me, for the Lord has given His angels charge over me. They keep me in all my ways.  I take the shield of faith and quench every fiery dart that the wicked one brings against me.  Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law in the name of Jesus. I am a overcomer, and I overcome by the blood of Lamb and word of my testimony. I am submitted to God, and the devil flees from me.  The Word of God is forever settled in heaven; therefore, I will establish His word on earth.

Fear, you must go now! I am made perfect in love. I am a person of faith!

Amen
