31 Days of Hindsight: Day 7

fullsizerender-13

Today is the 9 year anniversary of my “NOTHING BUT NOODLES” lunch. December 7, 2007 is the day a “sleeping giant” awoke in me, the day I surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

…the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1 John 4:4 NLT

That date is also significant because December 7, 1941 is the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, awaking a sleeping giant in the U.S.

“I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Isoroku Yamamoto

You may be asking, “What in the world does that mean and why should I care?”

Do you have a “WAKE-UP GIANT” day?

Do you want one?

I have a booth at NOTHING BUT NOODLES that is HOLY GROUND, where I reluctantly met with an old friend, who glowed like the noonday sun, and whom Christ chose to use to woo my straddling leg over the fence, once and for all!

Side bar: Last year I submitted several pieces for different writing opportunities.   I celebrated the first one accepted, “Embracing Awkward” at (in)courage , and I bounced back time and time again after many rejections.  I pray it makes me a better writer.

All that to say, one of my rejections earlier this year was a submission in an “elevator pitch” competition.  Although I was not the chosen one, I continued to work on it with my writing group, and below is what I believe to be a much better “elevator pitch” than I started with.  I wrote it for an e-book I am still trying to decide if I should pen. I am including it here because it is the best way to explain my God Wink day on December 7, 2007.

Elevator Pitch: “The Napkin”

An old friend, an unexpected lunch, the gift of time, someone prepared to share their hope and a simple, white paper napkin. Jesus used these everyday things to call Katie Wilson to an “all-in” journey with Him.

Katie knows that Godly words, even on a simple, paper napkin, can change the trajectory of a life eternally. In her new e-book, The Napkin, Katie shares the story of her new beginning with Christ.

This book is a hope offering to anyone who thinks it is too late to go “all-in” with Jesus and live a life that makes a difference. Katie shares the content of her original “napkin” from this divine encounter, almost a decade ago. She also shares how these truths have changed her life.

Inspired by her encounter with God’s Word and the words of a friend, Katie is co-writing her love story with Christ as a FREEDOM SCRIBE.  She prays this little book will have a big impact on every FREEDOM-READER’S life, an impact that sends them running to God’s Word for MORE. She wrote it to help readers prepare to give an answer to everyone who asks them to explain the hope they have.

“…if someone asks about your hope as a believer,

I included the link for God Winks for more information but here is SQuire Rushnesll’s short definition:

WHAT’S A GODWINK?
A godwink is what some people would call a coincidence, an answered prayer, or simply an experience where you’d say, “Wow, what are the odds of that!”

What do godwinks mean? Think about when you were a kid and someone you loved gave you a little wink across the dining room table…Mom or Dad or Grandma. You didn’t say “What do you mean by that?” You knew. It meant: “Hey kid, I’m thinking about you right now.” That’s what a godwink is too: a message of reassurance from above, directly to you, out of six billion people on the planet, saying “Hey kid…I’m thinking of you! Keep the faith! You’re never alone.” SQuire Rushnell

*I hope you will check out some of SQuire Rushnell’s  books.  They would be an inspiring and life changing gift to yourself or someone else this Christmas!

31 Days of Hindsight: Day 7

Thank you for continuing to take this hindsight journey alongside me. I pray you are contemplating your rearview mirror as well.  Some of it may be painful, funny, or even boring; however, if we ask God to give us HIS eyes to see and a heart to receive, we will also find the gold:

  • the lessons learned,
  • the memories made
  • and a Jesus adventure being written in epic fashion – Our HIStory with the ONE who loved us first!

In light of what you have learned about a GOD WINK, where have you experienced them over the past year, or as far back as you choose to go?

Take the time to consider writing your own ELEVATOR PITCH, on a turning point you have had or would even like to have with God.

Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past strengthens our faith in the present and for the future. If you cannot recall any turning points with God, ask HIM for one.

God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful. 1 Thess. 5:24 NLT

See you tomorrow!
