(Week 34) Wings Over TCU

Story behind the Painting:

Above you see the smiling face of “Poetry in Motion.” Literally, that radiant beauty’s name is Kavi, meaning poet!  She headed off to TCU just days ago, moving into her new home on her 18th birthday.

Her mama is a dear friend of mind and their family is a prime example of what it looks like to leave “beauty marks” in their wake. I cannot sing their praises enough.  They bring peace, joy and light into every environment.  It is an internal glow that sends Holy shock waves radiating from the epicenter of their Spirit-filled hearts.

Praying circles around the next generation, as they head off to college or wherever the next step in their journey takes them, makes my heart sing.  It is one of my greatest blessings to bless them with a visual expression of the overflow of my heart, penning those prayers in paint, and sometimes poetry:)

Below is the passage I prayed over precious Kavi as she headed to school.  I think God kinda likes it when we plagiarise HIS WORDS, HIS SONGS, HIS POETRY, and claim them as our own:)

(Psalm 91 MSG)

“You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,
harm can’t get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they’ll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”

Take-away Treasure:

It seems only appropriate to write a poem in honor of Kavi, the poet!

But this is also a poem to remind you that you are God’s Masterpiece, HIS painting, HIS tapestry, HIS photograph, HIS graphic design, HIS sculpture, HIS song, HIS dance, HIS ___________(fill in the blank). We are HIS creation whom HE created to create!

The Greek word for “WORKMANSHIP” is POIEMA, which gives us our English words POEM and POETRY.

“For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.”  (Ephesians 2:10 VOICE)

“Beauty Marks” by Katie Wilson

“Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.” (Psalm 45:1 NLT)

Mirror, Mirror on the wall,

Who’s the fairest of them all?

Well you, my pretty,

didn’t you know?

I fashioned you to glow!

I spun your hair and placed your nose

Crafted fingers; sculpted toes.

A freckle here, a freckle there

Constellations everywhere!

I do not make mistakes

And I’ll bring beauty out of yours.

I came because I love you

my delight, not a chore!

Don’t cover up your scars.

They’re arrows to my healing.

They’re beauty marks to some,

who are drowning in their feelings.

You leave a wake, with the steps you take;

so choose each one with care.

Your broken places show my graces

The cracks are yours to share.

My light shines bright,

as you embrace your thorn.

Your beauty marks give hope

to the broken and the torn.

Boasting becomes beauty

when you boast the most in ME .

Your beauty marks are MY design

they set the captives free!

Chin up buttercup

confidence is contagious.

Extravagant love

from God above

It’s scandalous,

OUTRAGEOUS!

SHOW YOUR BEAUTY MARKS-

BE COURAGEOUS!
