Orlando Skyline: Praying for Orlando

I am still processing in print and pictures the pain that Orlando is experiencing.

When Paris was attacked, I processed the shock and pain through painting for the first time.  The whole time I put color to canvas, I called out to Christ for the families and friends who lost loved ones that horrific day, November 13, 2015.

Below is the short prayer and painting that consumed my time and attention, as I grieved alongside the grieving on November 13, 2015:

             #EiffelTower Prayers for Paris:

“Lord, we don’t know what to do but our eyes are on YOU!” 2 Chron. 20:12 Most of the time I write to process. Today I painted and prayed! Jesus, what the enemy meant to destroy with in Paris, will you please save many lives instead?  Those who lost their life did not die in vain. Their lives here will never be forgotten and I believe many will come to know Christ through the legacies they left behind!

Amen

My Prayer for the broken-hearted in Orlando:

Dear Lord,

If we were back in the sackcloth and ashes days, I would physically be sitting alongside the devastated in Orlando right now.  But since I cannot be there in person, I am choosing to be there in heart.

I am lifting my eyes and choosing to see the heart-break before me. I will not turn a blind eye.  I have cried tears and cried out to Christ on behalf of the lives lost, and for the ones fractured and left behind with empty spaces. May I be a “ground sitter” beside the grieving. Job’s friends started out wise.  They saw the tremendous pain of a friend who had lost loved ones and their hearts were moved and stirred to be still and silent.

“12…When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky. Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.” Job 2:13 NASB

I painted with watery eyes and simply repeated the name of Jesus over and over as I covered Orlando.

“Lord, we don’t know what to do but our eyes are on YOU!” 2 Chron. 20:12 Most of the time I write to process. Today I painted and prayed! Jesus, what the enemy meant to destroy with in Orlando, will YOU please save many lives instead?  Those who lost their life did not die in vain. Their lives here will never be forgotten and I believe many will come to know Christ through the legacies they left behind!

Amen
