“HOLD TIGHT” February 18

Sometimes we get into boats that God never intended for us, boats that no one should enter or boats that are someone else’s.

When we do this, God loves us too much to leave us there without a warning; so HE will let there be consequences to motivate us to GET OUT!

Have you gotten into boats that were labeled “DO NOT ENTER” or “NOT YOURS?”

When I look back on those excursions in my life, I see the warning signs.  Hindsight is always 20/20.  I also see that if I had really gone to the Lord for wisdom and discernment, I would not have chosen those boats.

Many lessons have been learned the hard way; however I am also learning to lean into God and listen sooner than later, responding in obedience, and letting “DO NOT ENTER” and “NOT YOURS” sail on by!

However, some boats have our name on them and Jesus is beckoning us to get in and GO.  Having our name on the boat does not necessarily mean that it will be smooth sailing either.

You know God called you there but for the love of Pete, the storm just seems to have picked up.

Has this ever happened to you?

How do we determine the difference between a “consequence” storm and a “prelude to walking on water” storm?

I think the secret to figuring out what kind of storm we are in is found in Peter and Jesus’s brief conversation:

“Lord, if it is YOU, tell me to come to YOU on the water.”

“Come,” Jesus said.

If we would approach every decision with:

“Lord, if this of YOU, tell me to come to YOU in this place.”

If Jesus is not in it, HE will not answer with:

“Come.”

It is up to us to live 100% dependent on Jesus’ response in every decision.  We can not rely on yesterdays direction.

We must 1st ask HIM,

lean in to hear HIM,

and then go or stay in obedience to whatever HE says!
