Watermarked by God

Watermarked by God

“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27 NASB

In Christ, we are watermarked. What does that mean?

A watermark is a faint design made in paper during manufacture, which is visible when held against the light and typically identifies the maker. Can you see where this is going?

The stories God gives us to tell are written in the lives we live. We cannot tell a story that we do not know. Our narratives grow out of our unique, yet ordinary, moments.

So, I look at my moments and what do I see? I am the co-editor of a local community blog. This means I get to bring glory to God through graphic design, content writing and editing. I have watermarked 100s of pictures and spent hours picking font, transparency, size, color, background, brightness, hue, contrast, saturation and “blur”.  I have become acquainted with all of these terms through hands-on site development, learning as I go. Yes, I am learning terms, but more importantly I am learning to see God in the ordinary. You can too.

As I watermark each image on our community site, I hear God whispering, “I am here. I see you. I love you. You are Mine.” I am watermarked by my Maker; my watermark is highly visible; the font is Bold; the size completely covers; the color is resplendent chrome; the background is completely transparent in the Light; the brightness is set to “radiant”; the hue is red in the blood of Christ; the contrast is 100%, for the old is gone and the new has come; I am fully saturated and filled to overflow with the Spirit and the “blur” is set to 0, for I can see clearly that “for me to live is Christ.”

Do you see God’s EXTRA being added to my ORDINARY? Do you see HIM revealing HIMSELF to me through my everyday life? I am learning to see HIM in everything, because HE is in everything. It is not a “reach”, but a Holy Spirit “revelation”, to recognize HIS PRESENCE. HE is pulling back my human blinders to give me glimpses of HIS GLORY. The Spirit wants to do that for you as well, through your everyday, unique, yet ordinary, lives!

“Holy ground moments” in the graphic design process are not coincidences and when you spot God in the processes of your life, there are no coincidences there either. The Holy Spirit is pulling back the curtain to give you “glory glimpses” and being watermarked by God identifies our Maker when we are “held against the Light.”
