31 Days of Hindsight: Day 20

Day 20 on this hindsight journey is coming to a close.  I opened up a journal from this past year to get some gold and God did not disappoint.  He reminded me of an idea HE gave me, one I have definitely dropped the ball on.

However, God ideas do not have an expiration date.

Can you think of any GOD IDEAS from this past year that are just waiting for the “GO AHEAD”?

Could 2017 be the “GO AHEAD WITH THAT GOD IDEA” year?

The idea was to start a YouTube station called “A Mother’s Legacy”, in which I simply started in John and read a chapter per video from the Message translation until I literally had the whole Bible read aloud for my kids, grandkids and all future generations.  I couldn’t think of a greater gift to leave for those coming behind me, than their mama’s, or grandmamma’s or great-grandmamma’s voice reading the Word on video to them.  A timeless joy I could leave behind and most definitely a beauty mark in my wake!

Below are several verses that spoke this seed into the soil of my heart, especially Psalm 102:18…

…I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. Psalm 73:28 NLT

One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4 ESV

Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord: Psalm 102:18 ESV

So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. Psalm 71:18

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

Well, all that to say, I have still not gotten a YouTube channel up and running.  I recorded 3 or 4 videos reading from John in the Message but then realized I did not know how to convert the videos to YouTube.  They were too long and my computer skills are lacking.  I still have the videos on my laptop and I know the time I spent reading God’s Word aloud was not wasted.

I will keep you posted if I ever get “A Mother’s Legacy” to go live.

If I love running and listening to God’s Word read aloud by a complete stranger, how much more fun would it be if we actually had our mother’s or father’s voices reading us Scripture  while we ran, or cooked, or painted, or drove etc…  I lost my dad when I was 21.  What a timeless treasure that would have been to have had him recorded reading God’s Word.  I may not have that treasure but I certainly can leave one for my kids.

Will you join me?

What if we all made YouTube Channels or videos for our kids, grandkids, etc… of reading the Word aloud.  Even if no one ever hears our recordings, we still know that time spent reading Scripture is never wasted. His Word never comes back void, which simply means God keeps HIS promises.  How will we know His promises unless we have read them ourselves or heard them shared by another?

May 2017 be a year of sharing, even if for only an audience of ONE!

See you tomorrow on Day 21!

Peace Out!
