31 Days of Hindsight: Day 2

fullsizerender-13

The count down is officially on to New Years Eve 2016 and my 47th Bday!

In case you are jumping in on day 2, I am in the process of doing a 31 day year-end review.  I am allowing hindsight to be my humorous, humbling and honest teacher and I am sharing the gold I sift out here on the blog!

I pray it encourages you to look back on your year, through journals, calendars, checkbooks, or even your social media to see where and how you’ve lived and what you’ve loved, learned and are leaning toward in 2017!

31 Days of Hindsight: Day 2

I was scheduled to leave for a prison ministry mission trip in mid-January 2016.  Reading back through my journal on the days preceding the trip I see evidence of God’s goodness and faithfulness everywhere.  He reminded me in Joshua that HE does not give us formulas in order to keep us dependent on HIM.  He reminded me that the promise is VICTORY but the plan to get there in each battle looks different. Don’t look for the familiar, for loopholes or for shortcuts, just look to the FATHER, let LOVE be your filter and take “the road less traveled.”

In Isaiah the Lord reminded me that my good old fashion journals would come in handy one day (like right now),

“Take a large scroll and write on it with an ordinary pen…”(Isaiah 8:1)

And HE gently whispered:

-“As you head to Costa Rica, but really as you do every day ordinary life, pray, lean into me.  I am the God who came to mend brokenness, not fix messes!  Your are MY conduit of love, MY instrument of Light, not my problem solver or mess fixer.  You are simply to point the world around you, at home, locally, nationally or globally, TO ME! Recognizing your unworthiness is the enemies attempt to shame you but it is MY welcome mat to come in and cover you in the righteous robes of MY SON, the only worthy ONE! I now see HIM when I see you and I AM THE PROUDEST PARENT! I chose you to represent ME in all your quirky, childlike, weak and weird ways for such a time as this!

Now, GO! BE YOU and DO ME, because LOVE DOES!”

God is not just whispering these truths to me. HE is speaking them to you as well.  We won’t look or dance the same in this Victory march but we are Victors in Christ together nonetheless.

31 Days of Hindsight: Day 2

Hindsight really is a great teacher! I am thankful to have penned these truths in my journal so I could speak them over you here!

Are there areas where we are relying to heavily on the familiar, looking for loopholes or searching for shortcuts?  In our present circumstances, how could we look to the FATHER, let LOVE be your filter and take “the road less traveled” instead and what would that look like lived out?

Since God came to mend brokenness, not fix messes, what would it look like for us to be conduits of HIS love and instruments of Light instead of going into “fix it” mode?

God is telling you and me:

“Now, GO! BE YOU and DO ME; because LOVE DOES!”
