My Day 8 of 500 Words-#BetterTogether: Resting on Ready

IMG_4021

Am I ready at all times?

Ready for what?

Can I live ready and at rest simultaneously?

Ready living” sounds a little like living discontent or anxious, and if “ready living” means that, then we are anticipating disappointment or disaster.

I do not define “ready living” like that.  I define “ready living” as “dependent on God living.” “Ready living” is our ONLY way to live at rest!

We have it drilled into our heads that we are to be autonomous, able, and the most awesome at everything.  If that is how we define success, we will never find real joy or rest and we will never reach the proverbial summit!

Ready living” ushers in the adventure of a lifetime, eternally!  “God-dependant living” does not drill into us but draws us to be “better together“, available, and dependent on a God who is most awesome at everything.  Living in this zone is how we live ready and at rest simultaneously!

Looking back through 2015 I see some reoccurring themes:

#BetterTogether

Exodus 17 tells the story of Joshua AND HIS MEN(notice he is not alone) overcoming because Moses raises his hands to pray for their victory.  Moses raises his hands WITH ARRON AND HUR (notice he is not alone) coming alongside him to hold up his tired arms.

(*Props for the prayer warrior-Pun intended!)

#Ready

“Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it. The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed.” (Exodus 25:14-15)

Do you see it?

In order to carry the Ark, which represented the visible presence of God at that time, poles had to be inserted and that required MORE THAN ONE PERSON walking together to carry His Presence – #BetterTogether!

The fact that the poles were to remain in the rings tells us that the Ark had to be ready at all times, which means the people had to be ready to carry His Presence together at all times.

How does any of that add value to our everyday life?

*Riding Solo is not an option.  Link up and let’s go!

*We were created to be dependent, dependent on god. lean on him

and live ready at rest.

*Autonomy, ability and awesomeness are overrated.

*Don’t “drill” into others and forget what we think we know about “the drill.”

*By allowing ourselves to be “drawn”, we will come together, be available, and get to know the God who is most awesome at everything.

*We stop anticipating disappointment and disaster when we LOOK TO THE GOD WHO:

ALWAYS KEEPS HIS PROMISES

and

is the creator of all good things.

*We overcome together and through prayer.

*Holding up the arms of another strategically positions us to play a part in the miraculous.

*Whatever role:

– Frontline Fighter

– Prayer Warrior

– Arm Rest

Make sure we play it with all of our heart and strength, as if doing it for God and not for man!

Attitude and effort always trump natural ability in God’s economy.
