My Day 1 of 500 Words

This first paragraph does not count in my 500 words.  I am borrowing it from http://my500words.com just to keep my focus and remember why I am doing what I’m doing.

Start a Daily Writing Habit

You love writing but have never been good at the whole discipline thing. Everyone says you ought to be writing every day, but how?

My 500 Words is a 31-day challenge designed to help you answer that question. It will help you get more disciplined at writing, hone your craft, and finally become the writer you dreamed of being.

I can.

You can

I know it is possible.  I know this, because I have stopped some habits and started some habits that are standing the test of time.  I know that my success in these areas is because of the God I depend on.  HE told me that apart HIM I can nothing, but with HIM all things are possible.  I am finding that to be true.

God put a desire to write within me when I was a little girl.  I wrote “Dear Diary” so many times and I remember thinking:

“Who in the world is Diary?”

But I kept on writing to “her.”

In hindsight,  I know I was journaling my journey with Jesus and “Diary” was HIM.  I write to Jesus everyday in a good, old-fashion paper journal and that will never stop.  It primarily consists of prayers, certain Scriptures that are speaking to me in the moment, book notes that captivate me, what I hear the Holy Spirit singing over me(not audibly but still in my KNOWER), dreams or ideas God places in my heart of hearts, my tears, my laughter, my confessions and most importantly my adoration and gratitude for the God who saved, delivered, restores and fulfills me.

Part of the reason I started blogging in the first place was because I knew God was telling me to “take the journey before the people.”  I did not want to do that.  I do it anyway because HE asked.

I am a terrible editor.  God still loves me.  HE loves excellence but HE also created us to move towards excellence through process.  HE wants me to show my process.  Yuck!

I do not like process.  Process is not usually pretty or neat or even interesting.

For example, the fact that I have a blog/website is miraculous.  I am sure the people who developed WordPress went through a rigorous, messy, complicated process to create something that technological idiots like me can use, and actually use well.  I have no interest whatsoever in knowing the behind-the-scenes that went down to get me to this user-friendly wonderland.  Do you get my point?

I asked God why in the world would anyone have any interest whatsoever in the stupid, ugly, messy beginnings of this blog?  I still do not have an answer.  That’s fine.

Repeatedly, I have asked HIM if I can go back and delete some of my earliest posts.  Most are a grammatical disaster.  Most just seem to ramble on with no purpose at all.  God said, “No.”

I have not deleted the genesis of this blog out of obedience.  God told me HE works all things together for good and so there you have it.

HE will work it all in and work it all out in HIS way, for HIS purpose, in HIS timing and it will be good.

My plan for #my500words is to blog my “year in review.”   I have pulled out my “old faithfuls:”

For the next 30 days, I am going to sift through “my gold” and share the treasures God spoke over me.

I hope this will inspire others to sift through “their gold” and share.  For those who may have missed “their gold,” I hope this inspires you to go back and take a second look.

Trash collectors collect trash.  Gold diggers strike gold.

Make each day a treasure hunt from this moment forward.

“Valuables” is a synonym for “Treasures.”

Share “Valuables.”

This is how we add value to the world around us.

I hope this adds value to yours.
