YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND (new spin on James Taylor)
Jeremiah 33:3-“Call unto ME and I will show you great things!”
For Christmas my daughter and I got new phone covers in our stocking. Jeremiah 33:3 is the verse on mine and Proverbs 3:5-“Trust in the Lord with all your heart” is hers. I can not think of 2 better reminders of WHO to call and WHO to trust or a better place for that reminder in a world where those phones are another appendage!
I decided on Guthrie’s “Reading God’s Story: A Chronological Daily Bible” as my “morning portion” for 2013 and today I have been chewing on Enosh. Seth came along as a replacement for Abel (Eve’s words not mine:”God has given me another child in place of Abel.” From Seth comes Enosh. The very next sentence after Enosh is introduced is,”At that time people began to CALL ON the Name of Yahweh.” That is the sentence that I want to follow my name! That defines success for me! It is said that if you do not define what success is for yourself then you could spend your whole life on the wrong ladder. What ladder are you on?
Of course I have to lean on some lyrics! James Taylor is an all time favorite for me and the song “You’ve Got a Friend” is classic!
“You just call out MY NAME and you know wherever I am-I’ll come running to see you again. Winter, spring, summer or fall all you have to do is call and I’ll be there yeah, yeah, you’ve got a friend!”
HE is truly my best friend and HE has remained faithful even when I have not. When the storms have come, and they will again, HE has held me in every wave and wind! I have never been, and neither have you as a follower of Christ, in a “free fall”. Our freedom actually binds us to the HANDS that never let go! I love oxymorons in the Bible! We must be bound to HIM to be free! That is good stuff!!!!
Success for Katie: In my lifetime, when my name is spoken it will be associated with “at that time (our generation-NOW) people began to call on the NAME of Yahweh!” Talk about defining moments!!! What is the definition of success for your life?
Thank you Lord for being my BEST FRIEND! Thank you for YOUR PROMISE: “Call unto ME and I will show you great things.” I am calling! I am waiting, listening, looking and longing with great expectation! I love you!
